This continues a British trend of hammering jurors for failing to follow the court's ban on Internet research. Earlier this summer, another juror received an 8-month sentence.
In contrast, jurors in the U.S. are rarely incarcerated for failing to follow the court's instructions. Generally speaking, courts in the U.S. punish wayward jurors with fines or public embarassment.
