Australia to Consider Whether a Deaf Juror May Serve

Unlike the United States, no deaf person has ever served on a jury in Australia.  Today, the Australian high court will hear a case involving Gaye Lyons who was prevented from sitting on a jury because she is deaf.  After waging a four-year legal battle, Ms. Lyons' case has finally made it to the high court.  The issues raised by Ms. Lyons' case are discussed in greater detail in a podcast available here.
